light as a feather
"Your reiki power is like an aura.
It's a glow, and you are radiating out.
No darkness can penetrate you."
- Hawayo Takata
Reiki is a safe and subtle practice rooted in a simple idea that your energy, body, and nervous system know how to move toward balance when given the right conditions to do so.
When the system has been under pressure for long periods of time through lifestyle habits, unprocessed experiences or emotions, and everyday stressors we experience in life, the pathways our energy flows along can become stagnant, stuck, or guarded. That glow Takata describes doesn’t disappear, it just gets harder to access.
Reiki works by introducing steady, supportive input that helps energy held in place start moving freely again. Not through force, but by creating enough stillness for your system to reorganize itself on its own terms towards something more clear, stable, and natural. In this state of balance, those circumstances that used to cause disruption no longer hold the same charge they once did.
People often come to Reiki when something remains stuck despite rest, effort, or trying to think their way through it. While every experience is different, many notice a quieter mind, less internal pressure, the sensation of a physically lighter body, and stronger grounding after a session.
You don’t need to believe in anything specific for Reiki to be effective. You don’t need to understand energy systems or have prior experience. You just need to be open to the possibility that your system may respond differently when it’s exposed to something new and is no longer under constant pressure.
When things aren’t shifting, Reiki offers a different way to approach it.
